The R.E.A.L. (Research, Evaluate, Analyze, Learn) project envisions a digitally literate youth population equipped to critically navigate the complex landscape of modern information. It aspires to transform the way young people engage with digital content, fostering a culture of critical thinking, responsibility, and informed decision-making that underpins a resilient democratic society.
The proliferation of misinformation and its impact on public discourse and democratic processes have been identified as a critical problem facing societies today. Young people, as avid consumers and creators of digital content, often lack the necessary skills to effectively distinguish between credible information and misinformation, making them particularly vulnerable to the consequences of a post-truth culture.
The specific goal is to:
Significantly improve media literacy among European youth, ensuring they possess the critical thinking and evaluative skills needed to responsibly navigate and contribute to the digital world.
Empower young individuals to become proactive agents in their communities, advocating for truth and contributing to a more informed and engaged public.
Objectives:
Develop and implement a comprehensive educational framework based on the R.E.A.L. principles that will be accessible through the Youth Digital Fact-Checking Hub.
Engage a diverse group of youth participants across Europe in interactive learning modules, workshops, and collaborative projects that apply the R.E.A.L. methodology.
Create a sustainable network of youth ambassadors who are trained in and advocate for the principles of media literacy and critical thinking.
